Inside Straight, edited by George R. R. Martin. The first Wild Cards book I've read.

You know, I'm running out of stuff by GRRM to read. He did contribute to most Wild Cards volumes, but it's primarily a teamwork effort. And I've read all of his novels and most of his short stories already. Please finish A Dance With Dragons....
Spent a lazy-ish day reading Jasper Jones by Craig Silvey ... the person who "did it" was easily predicted right from the beginning but a well-written, easy-to-read and enjoyable story nonetheless. It has been hailed as an " Australian 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' " and, while I think some of the Australianisms may be lost on others, the themes are universal. A love/knowledge of cricket (which I have) may also improve appreciation for certain aspects of it.
PS This book ^ had a great case for Batman being the greatest superhero. I guess you could pretty much say I hated Batman until Charlie (character in the book) convinced me that he truly did deserve to hold the "greatest superhero" title over Superman and Spiderman!! P
I've resumed reading Storm of Swords by GRRM

It seems that "a dance with dragons" is practically finished... These beings look forward to that...
An eclipse novella: 'The short second life of Bree Tanner'. Yes, I know most people puke on this, but I find the books a very nice light read.
Bree Tanner was amusing. I can't remember her from Eclipse however, so she obviously didn't make a big impact then.

Now reading Neil Gaiman's 'American gods'. Been years since I had that one in my hands, and I can remember it to be a very good book.
Finished Sword of Storms and just started Feast for Crows today.

I hope so, too.

That book was like one long crazy road trip.
I just re-read The Voyage of Dawn Treader in preparation of seeing the third Narnia film. I fully expect to hate parts of it based on the trailer (What seven swords? Why is Caspian at the beach where the wave is? Why isn't Ramandu listed as a character, they could not have cut him RIGHT?) I have to say the book is... well, I wouldn't say least favourite of the series, but there are parts that I find difficult to digests as a grown-up. I first read the books when I was 9 and was madly in love with the world, so I'll be forever biased when it comes to criticism of these books. I was surprised to notice most of the story is told from Lucy's point of view, I didn't remember that.
I re-read the entire series not so long ago, and must admit that I loved them as much as I did as a girl. I haven't attempted to watch any of the movies as I gathered they would be a disappointment in comparison to the novels (as usually happens Smiling ). What a great book title though (and name for a ship!) ..."The Voyage of the Dawn Treader"...it conjures up all sorts of amazing and adventurous images for me Boat .

I am just trying to begin "Her Fearful Symmetry" by Audrey Niffenegger, the author of "The Time Traveler's Wife" (a bit confusing here in that we Australians write it as "Traveller's", with a double 'l', but the actual title has only the one!) .

I am not starting any of the A Song of Ice and Fire series of GRRM's until the next one comes out (the rest are on my bookshelf...waiting, waiting). Looking forward to joining in the discussions elsewhere on thePlenty when that happens though!
