Great ^^ I enjoyed Game of Thrones a lot, though I must warn you, it's vividly written P Martin isn't shy to show details, with about everything to be honest hehe. Anyway, enjoy Smiling
Vivid is good!! Can't wait to start a new series.. it makes me a bit giddy!!! Smiling

Well I wouldn't say "famous" but I think most of the science fiction / fantasy fandom in Finland knows who I am.

And as I'm totally off topic and bragging about authors I'll meet / have met, we had a really nice little con this weekend, Åcon 3 in Mariehamn Åland with Steph Swainston as a GoH. She was really nice and is a brilliant author and you all should go read her books.
Hobb was my favourite fantasy author until I read this series - Martin is just unbelievably good. If I start reading books and they are not up to the standard of Hobb or Martin, I simply don't read them.

For people who want to read the books again before the HBO series comes out, I recommend getting the audio books read by Roy Dotrice - they are really well done - I just finished listening to A game of Thrones and can't wait to get cracking on A Clash of Kings.

Cheers

LOL, that's a tough standard to keep. Shortly after reading all the robin hobb books I found George RR Martin and after that I was ruined as well. I quit reading a lot of books halfway through because nothing was as good as those two.
Yeah, I have the same problem. Not much really stands up to Hobb or Martin.
To true ...
I have just read all four books. Absolutely mind-blowing, thanks for the recommendation!

Fire consumes but ice preserves... hmmm...

Sweet. Glad you liked them!
I love ASoIaF. Love Jaime Lannister, he's my favourite. Ohh and Beric Dondarrion... and Howland Reed. Who lets face it is the coolest dude ever in the history of everything.
I actually met Martin once, back when Feast was released in the UK and he did a Glasgow signing. And from what I hear in my email correspondence with him, he might be back in Glasgow soon for the show's filming.
