Hi all, first post.. i just started reading dragon keeper yesterday and i'm already engrossed...i know what i'll be doing this weekend!

I have to say though i was really surprised by that typo in the first line of the first chapter. What is that stroke doing in the word giv/ing?
I get that they were probably short on time in editing the book, but come on...the first line?
Weird right?
I have to say that I've been positively surprised with the LACK of typos in this book. The Soldier Son trilogy was sadly quite infested with them, at least the UK 1st editions. I hope the lists we made helped the editors fix them for the other editions...
I've only read about 160 pages of TDK (trying to make it last longer) and I've only noticed 2 or 3 typos so far, which I consider a pretty normal amount for any book, especially 1st ed. Still, the / is a very odd one.
Finished Dragon Keeper today. Loved it.

but I couldn't really figure out about the others.

I'm sure that you're right about that. It has been far too long since I read the Liveships so I can't help with others.

Yeah, me too. Although I was annoyed that

Me too! I've been trying to guess what it might be...
That thought has crossed my mind too. I have Twittered the question the Voyager, so hopefully she will let us know soon.
I just finished The Dragon Keeper. In short, I was torn between loving the book and hating it. Still not sure how I feel about it. I wrote up my review on my little book review site, but even after I finished my review I'm still struggling with how I felt about the book.

My (spoiler free) review is here: http://bookologists.com/?p=239
Just read your review. Regarding Hobb's "attempt to be controversial":
You know, I think it's a bit annoying to constantly put things between spoiler tags. Couldn't we just talk freely about the book in just this one topic?
Mervi, can you chop this thread into two - one without spoilers for those still reading and other that says clearly in the heading *beware of spoilers*, we've already finished the book?
I think we're better off making a new topic ourselves, Sini.

What's the rule on spoilers in general, by the way? Do events from, say, Assassin's Quest still have to be spoilermarked, or is that considered common knowledge? What about something slightly more recent, such as Fool's Fate?
