I've just finished reading The Infernal City: An Elder Scrolls Novel, by Gregory Keyes. I must say, it was very good. Even if you haven't played the video game Oblivion I think you could enjoy it. He managed to make a perfect match between elements from the game, while not making any twists or plot holes around their main story.
The story itself was very interesting and original (although I didn't know it was part 1 of two books - boohoo!) It was also well written and contained such delightfull sentences as; "Another flaming chunk of beast fell past him."
I didn't know this but apparently this author specialises in writing books set in someone else's worlds. Robin Hobb has something to say about that.
He wrote books based on Star Wars and on Babylon 5, and the latter are apperently considered to be the bests written around those series.
I can't make up my mind whether I'm for these sort of books or not, all I know is that I thoroughly enjoyed reading a story set in the Elder Scrolls world.
Before that I read the first book of Pern from Anne McCaffrey, but they're not my sort of thing. Too many politics. But each to their own and I can see why they're enjoyable for other people.
