Just finished Starship Troopers. Can't say I really liked it all that much. The philosophical arguments on society, government, morality were interesting. I wish he introduced differing points of view on those topics, though. But even the narrator is too bland and obedient to make any significant rebuttal. The argument that martial law is the most efficient mode of governing may be valid, but Heinlein doesn't seem to elaborate much more beyond the explanation that there are big, bad, Bugs (commies, essentially) out there to destroy humanity.
Aside from that, the characters are pretty flat. The plot isn't all that intriguing and the narrator bores me. I'd still like to see the movie though.
I think I'll tackle Anna Karenina next.
