The people of the [[Rain Wilds]] took care of the cocoons until they hatched. Because they couldn't hunt for themselves due to their age and short developmental period, the dragons were soon a burden on the Rain Wild society, as they couldn't keep up with the resource demand. The expedition was agreed upon by the [[Rain Wild Trader Council]] and a crew was assembled. There were different groups assigned to different tasks. [[Keepers]] volunteered to take care of dragons, hunters signed up to supply food, and [[Tarman]], the first [[liveship]] captained by [[Leftrin]], signed up to accompany them.
