'''Alise''' is a young [[Bingtown]] lady, from a middle class trading family. She has dedicated her life to the study of [[dragon]]s and [[Elderling]]s. She is described as plain, with long curly red hair and freckles.
She has an older sister called [[Rose]].

Alise is taken aback when [[Hest Finbok]] tries to court her, and even more so when he proposes marriage. However, she realises that this may be her only offer of marriage, and so accepts Hest's proposal, with his promise that he will allow her to continue her studies as his wife.

After they marry, Alise discovers that Hest is cruel and selfish, and that his charming manners were all a facade. He shows no real interest in his wife, except that he wishes her to bear him children. But Alise never gets pregnant, and after several years of marriage, she demands that she travel to the [[Rain Wilds]], in order to study the dragons first hand. Hest is forced to allow her to go, but he sends his secretary, and Alise's childhood friend, [[Sedric Meldar]], to travel with her as a chaperon.

When they reach [[Trehaug]], Alise signs a contract at the [[Rain Wild Trader Council]] to help escort the dragons upriver, to the city of [[Kelsingra]]. Sedric is forced to accompany her, and they travel onboard the Tarman, with [[Leftrin]] as captain. From their first meeting, Alise and Leftrin are mutually attracted to each other, however they resist their feelings as best they can.

The dragon [[Sintara]] takes a liking to Alise, due to her respectful and flattering way of speaking with her. This fustrates Sintara's keeper, [[Thymara]], who does most of the hard work in caring for Sintara. It also broadens the rift between Alise and Sedric, the latter of which does not think highly of the dragons, and simply wants to return to Bingtown as soon as possible.

'''Malta Vestrit''', or Malta Haven, is the daughter of [[Keffria Vestrit]] and [[Kyle Haven]]. She is the middle sister to older brother [[Wintrow Vestrit]] and younger brother, [[Selden Vestrit]]. Betrothed to [[Reyn Khuprus]].

== Appearance ==

Malta is petite and pretty, womanly at an early age. She is 12 years old and is taller than Wintrow, older by a year. She is vain and very practiced in manipulation.

== Childhood ==

Malta grows up in Bingtown, the spoiled only daughter of Kyle and Keffria. She is raised by her Chalcedean father to be ladylike and retiring, a marked contrast to her aunt [[Althea Vestrit]] and her grandmother [[Ronica Vestrit]], who are strong, outspoken and independent. For most of the time after [[Ephron Vestrit|Ephron Vestrit's]] death, Malta runs counter to what her grandmother and mother want her to do.

She loves beautiful and elaborate clothing, to the extent that before a Trader's Ball, she sneaks off and commissions a dress she imagines to be the height of fashion, but which, on her arrival, proves to be tawdry and inappropriate. [[Davad Restart]] discovers her before she can enter the Ball proper, and brings her home before other [[Old Trader]] families see her and embarrass the Vestrits. Malta resents how overbearing her family seems to her and still chases after young men, particularly [[Cerwin Trell]], her best friend [[Delo Trell|Delo's]] brother.

After some time learning how to run a household, balance the books, and other adult tasks, Malta is treated a bit more like she is growing up. During a Trader meeting at the [[Bingtown Traders' Concourse]], she goes outside with her wineglass to get some air. She accidentally catches the eye of Reyn Khuprus, a veiled [[Rain Wilds|Rain Wilder]]. Not knowing who he is or the importance of what they're doing, she speaks with him. It is cold outside and she accepts his offering of a scarf to keep her warm and later offers Reyn her wineglass. This seems to indicate a mutual interest to Reyn, and he pursues a courtship.

== Early Adulthood ==

Malta is flirtatious and likes the idea of stringing her beaux along, enjoying a sense of achievement that they would fight to be with her. She all but commits herself to [[Cerwin Trell]], while accepting courting gifts from Reyn which have more significance than she realizes; she shares a [[dream-box]] with Reyn and the Khuprus family offers to forgive the debt on the Vestrit [[liveship]] [[Vivacia]] in return for betrothal to Reyn.

She still strings Cerwin along, promising that her family's desperate situation is forcing her to entertain Reyn as a suitor. Malta herself is convinced she could never like Reyn, but she is determined to use anything she can to save her family and her missing father. She and Reyn share another dream in the dream-box, but draw the attention of the dragon [[Tintaglia]] who wants to make a deal with Malta. She is not currently in a position to help the dragon to freedom, but Tintaglia haunts her dreams.

Eventually, [[Satrap Cosgo]], the ruler of [[Jamaillia]], comes to Bingtown and is the guest of honor at a ball. During this, she is introduced to him and dances with Cosgo, Reyn, and Cerwin during the night. There are rumblings of danger coming and Reyn leaves the ball, leaving Malta broken hearted. The Vestrit family soon follows, with Davad Restart offering them a ride alongside the Satrap and one of his two [[Companion of the Heart|Companions]], [[Kekki]]. During the ride back, the carriage is attacked to kidnap the Satrap and prevent a [[New Trader]] plot to take over Bingtown. During the attack, Malta is severely injured.

Keffria, Malta and Selden flee to the Rain Wilds to take shelter with the Khuprus family. Malta heals, and she and Reyn settle their differences and deepen their courtship. Drawn to the [[Elderling]] city, [[Frengong]], Malta bonds with and helps to free Tintaglia. She is in the sunken city while large earthquake collapses her way out. She survives and escapes by the skin of her teeth with Satrap Cosgo and Kekki in tow. They are picked up by a Chalcedean ship, that sails away, meets up with a larger ship, and then sails towards Jamaillia. During the journey, Kekki dies and Malta uses the power vacuum to take up the reins and negotiate on behalf of the Satrap. They remain with this Chalcedean raiding ship until they are boarded and captured by the pirate ship [[Motley (ship)|Motley]]. She convinces Cosgo to put her in charge and work with her to save their lives. Malta convinces the captain, [[Red (Captain)|Red]], to take her and the Satrap seriously and present their deal for freedom to [[Kennit]]. They meet up with Vivacia and Kennit, and Malta and the Satrap are brought onboard.

On board the Vivacia, Malta is reunited with her brother Wintrow and her aunt [[Althea Vestrit]]. Reyn is reunited with her after a search with help from Tintaglia. After a complicated series of negotiations, Malta establishes the return of the Satrap to power and securing her future. Soon after, Tintaglia confirms Malta is an [[Elderling]] through their mutual association.

When Satrap Cosgo is returned to Jamaillia, Malta and Reyn join him to hold him to his promises. Malta had made a deal to establish herself and her family as representatives of Jamaillia. They draw attention in court and inspire a new trend of makeup imitating their scales.

== Adulthood ==

Malta and Reyn reside in the Rain Wilds until [[Kelsingra]] is found. They move upriver and rule the old city with their son, [[Ephron Khuprus]].

[[Lord Golden]] apparently named his horse after her, see [[Malta]].

'''Sedric Meldar''' is from a middle class [[Bingtown]] trading family, and is described as handsome and well mannered. He has a sister called [[Sophie Meldar Raxon|Sophie]].

== Dragon Keeper ==

Sedric is a childhood friend of [[Alise Kincarron]], and he suggests that his lover and employer, [[Hest Finbok]], marry her for convenience. Hest does this, and for many years Alise has no idea of her friend's affair with her husband. When Sedric supports Alise's plan to travel to the [[Rain Wilds]], pointing out that the plan was in their marriage contract, Hest punishes Sedric by forcing him to go with her, and act as her chaperon.

He is hurt by Hest's punishment but determined to find a way to build a life for the two of them where they can live freely. Sedric connects with a [[Chalced]]ean and makes a deal to gather dragon parts, for which the [[Duke of Chalced]] will pay handsomely.

Sedric is initially incapable of hearing the [[dragon]]s' thought communication, and compares dragon noises to the moo of a cow, which the dragon [[Sintara]] finds offensive. He continues to think of the dragons as rather ungainly animals, and builds a stash of scales and flesh from helping [[Thymara]] and [[Sylve]] work on the keeperless [[Spit|silver dragon]]'s injured tail.

One night he sees an opportunity: the keeperless [[Relpda|copper dragon]] is ill and sleeping. He creeps over to her and steals scales, then blood. Without really understanding what drives him, he drinks a large amount of her blood, planting the seeds for forming a bond with the dragon.

== Dragon Haven ==

Initially the blood makes him sick, and while he lies fevered in his cabin, [[Jess]] ferrets out his secret store of dragon parts.

Sedric begins to build a stronger connection with the dragon. At the same time, he slowly comes to accept that Hest never loved him, and for the first time, he fully acknowledges how cruel and sadistic Hest is.

After the flood, when he defeats [[Jess]]'s attempt to kill the copper dragon, [[Carson]] comes looking for him. He and Carson begin to build a more loving relationship. He reveals his relationship with [[Hest]] to [[Alise Kincarron|Alise]], and begs her forgiveness.

Eventually as his bond with [[Relpda]] grows in strength, he continues to help the dragon, resulting in her choosing to begin his transformation into an [[Elderling]]. Relpda sees his theft of her blood as his desire to become closer to her, and expresses quite clearly to him that his nearness makes it easier for her to think and express herself.

Sedric makes an effort to take his own life, but Relpda sends Carson to save him.

== City of Dragons ==

Across the river from [[Kelsingra]], Sedric and Carson move into an abandoned hut together.
Unlike the other keepers, Tats is not Rain Wild Trader born, but born into slavery as one of the [[Tattooed]]. He comes to the Rain Wilds with his mother, who dies shortly afterward. [[Thymara]]'s father employs him in their family hunting and gathering business from a young age, and he and Thymara have a long-standing friendship.

Early in the expedition to find [[Kelsingra]], Tats has a romantic relationship with [[Jerd]]. This puts some strain on his friendship with Thymara.

His relationship with Fente is relatively easy. He accepts the challenges she puts before him. With Thymara, [[Sylve]] and occasionally [[Rapskal]], Tats helps care for a [[Relpda|copper]] and [[Spit|silver]] dragon who are left keeperless, there being insufficient keepers for the number of dragons.

During his [[Elderling]] changes, his scales simply enhance the traits of his skin, including the tattoo on his face. It appears that Fente admires Tats for who he his, and seeks to enhance the physical appeal she sees in him.

Tats makes his feelings for [[Thymara]] known in [[Dragon Haven]], but Thymara is wary of sleeping with him in case she falls pregnant. Tats expresses jealousy of other young men, especially [[Rapskal]], who pay attention to Thymara.

= "First, let me introduce you to yourself." =
* Please take a minute to '''edit your own page''' by clicking on your username (you should see it at the top right on any page) if you haven't done so already. A quick introduction will do - and it's also a good place to practise formatting and stuff if you're new to wiki editing!

* Please '''sign your comments''' here on this page and on the talk pages. Just add <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki>(that's two straight lines and four tildes) after your message, or click on the signature button (the blue pen with the scribble in front of it). It's easier to follow the conversation when we know who's talking and it prints out the time as well, so we know when something was done/started.

* Before you start editing, take a look at the '''[[Help:Contents|help page]]''' to get familiar with some of the characteristics of this particular wiki. There are also helpful links if you're new to editing wiki text in general! --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 13:11, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

= "To Do" list =
Where to start? Here's a few ideas (updated in March 2017):

# [[Special:Wantedpages|List of most wanted pages]]: these are articles that don't yet exist but are being linked to from other articles. Maybe you could help by adding content to some of them so they are created? Just click on a red link and start writing. Don't worry about links and categories and all that stuff, someone else can add them later!
# Looking for a specific page to edit? Choose one of [[Special:Allpages|all the existing pages]] or use the search box.
# [[Fitz]] always needs some attention. You don't need to summarise his whole life on one go, just adding bits and pieces helps a lot.
# The cast of characters of [[Blue Boots]] is listed but haven't got their articles yet. Just click on the red links, don’t be shy!
# Good, short, spoiler-free summaries are needed for almost all of the [[:Category:Books|books and stories]] articles.
# As to the editions/translations info, most of what was published before 2003/2004 has been covered thanks to Willem's records. Anything after that is ~forever~ under construction, as it seems that every time I try to add another edition I come across three more split French translations and get distracted chasing them! If you have the name of a translation that's not yet listed, feel free to jump in and add it! It doesn't matter if you don't have the publisher/ISBN/cover etc, those can be added later.
# We need more magic! There's no article yet for <strike>[[Hedge-magic]]</strike> or [[scrying]] for example.
# The friendly folks over at the French site [http://www.rivages-maudits.com/hobb.php Les Rivages Maudits] have agreed to exchange information with us. If you know French and can mine information about their editions, sweet! (Site seems to be down as of March 2017)

="Claimed" projects=
If you'd like to "reserve" a portion of work for yourself, for example Russian translations, or place names of the Six Duchies, please edit this section and tell us what you're working on! This hopefully prevents several of us doing the same thing needlessly. '''A lot of these "claims" are several years old now, so if you see anything uncompleted here that you'd like to work on, please don't hesitate to do so.''' --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 23:49, 28 June 2014 (EEST)

They're more handy there, and editing the gallery pages has started to be quite cumbersome even after splitting it into three. Would you mind terribly if I put up a basic template for the Elderlings? that way we have something to work with, at least, even if it gets edited beyond recognition. **** As I'm sure some of you have noticed I've taken the liberty to split and reformat the gallery/galleries somewhat. Since the wiki has been really quiet lately I thought it's better to "act and revise if necessary" than to just wait for comments that might never appear. ;) So, I've a) split the original gallery into 3 parts: ML, RH and RotE. I suspect the last will need to be further split by the trilogies at some point b) altered the gallery format to show 5 books in a row, this shortens the pages even a bit (6 would have looked better but creates a horizontal scrollbar in smaller screens) If anyone knows a way to make the gallery fluid (well, we'd need to replace html tables with css for that I guess) let me know! -- [[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 21:50, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
==References==
On the site [http://home.iprimus.com.au/asr/hobb/index.html Trader Bay. An unofficial Robin Hobb page by Adam Rosser.] (with (incomplete) Character List and Timeline), a reference system is used for the Timeline. For example: "I.1" for Book I chapter 1. Maybe we can use a similar system to refer to the books of Robin Hobb. For example: "''FT'' I 1." for ''The Farseer trilogy'' Book I chapter 1. [[User:Evil berry|Evil berry]] 22:55, 16 May 2006 (EEST)
: Yes, we could do references by book and chapter. Another option is to build a timeline (or probably several) with a tool like [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/EasyTimeline this]. As I've tried to keep the articles free from references to the books, I'd prefer a timeline system, but I'm always willing to hear other opinions. Timelines might be more difficult build, I think we'd need to figure out some kind of "x years after Fitz was born" or "so-and-so's reign" system. Referencing to books on the other hand makes reading the article more messy - in my opinion. [[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 02:41, 17 May 2006 (EEST)
:: I've created a timeline (not with EasyTimeline, because it doesn't seem to work on this wiki) on my [[User:Evil berry|Userpage]]. It's only a rough sketch, but it gives an impression of how a timeline could be. [[User:Evil berry|Evil berry]] 20:53, 19 May 2006 (EEST)
::: It doesn't work because I haven't installed it yet. :) The one you've started looks like a good listing, but it doesn't show things like the fact that most of the stuff listed towards the end are within Shrewd's reign etc. I'll see if I can install EasyTime tomorrow or later this week so you can experiment with it if you want to. :) [[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 22:03, 21 May 2006 (EEST)
:::: Ouch. I took a closer look at the extension and it isn't as easy to install as I thought it would be. I'm going to have to postpone even trying to do that though, because I want to first update the script to the latest version. Sorry for the delay, I'll get there eventually, I promise! [[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 18:35, 29 May 2006 (EEST)

I've started to wonder whether we should have a reference system after all. I didn't want one in the beginning, because my experience with book-ish wikis is that they are quite unneeded and make the article pages look messy. Minor characters would be easy to handle, because it would probably mean a very short note like "introduced in AA (chapter) 3, mentioned again in GF 15" but how should we handle references for characters that appear in 6 to 9 books? I feel that the time and energy would be better directed to just adding more things to the wiki in general. Of course this wouldn't be such a problem with new articles in the future as we could make those reference notes at the time of adding the article. Because I'm going to start expanding this wiki to cover other Hobb/Lindholm works as well soon, this would be a good time to decide whether we need/want references or not. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 02:16, 21 January 2008 (EET)
: Giving references to every bit of info about main characters would really be a really big job. I personally don't feel a need for it, but perhaps those who aren't as familiar with Hobb's work would like it... Tough choice. But I'm voting no, our time is better spent in doing the articles themselves. As long as we have the templates so there is reference to the right universe & books. [[User:Sini|Sini]] 10:41, 21 January 2008 (EET)
:: Perhaps we should make categories for books too, so that the minor characters would be in the category of a certain book / story or a second template placing them into a certain book / story?[[User:Sini|Sini]] 10:47, 21 January 2008 (EET)

==Templates==
For a long time I have planned to "open" this wiki to other Hobb stories besides the RotE ones. I figured that the best way the script allows us to do this, is to use little boxes that are really templates to mark all the articles depending on which fictional universe they belong. I have made some drafts for those and added the RotE one to the [[Fitz]] article for example - please let me know what you think. The idea is that the template can be altered at any point without having to go through hundreds of pages making the same change (of course the template has to be added to those pages first though! :D) So it doesn't matter if we've used the template already to mark articles and then want to change something in it. Anyway, it would be good to hear everyone's thoughts about this. -- [[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 03:24, 19 January 2008 (EET)
: I think templates would be easier to notice on top of the page. Like the ones you've already done. [[User:Sini|Sini]] 13:42, 20 January 2008 (EET)
:: I think I actually placed them all over the place when I tested them. It shouldn't be too hard to fix though once we reach some kind of a consensus about this. I do agree that they are more easy to spot when they're on top, especially if the article is lengthy. But I fear that they will look a bit odd on top of those pages that only have one or two lines, ie the minor characters that are barely mentioned in the books etc. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 02:07, 21 January 2008 (EET)
::: But to avoid people getting spoiled, it would be a good for the template be on top. [[User:Sini|Sini]] 23:04, 21 January 2008 (EET)

* '''There's now a template for disambiguation pages.''' The text needs re-phrasing, but the template works and includes a link to the category, so any page with the template is automatically listed in the category. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 13:11, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

* Contemplating templates for "this characters appears in books x, y and z" which would be a sort of compromise solution to my previous thoughts on in-world references. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 13:11, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
==Licensing==
Also, I picked us a license, you can see it here: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/
This is something I've meant to do for a long time. If anyone feels it should be different, feel free to suggest changes! My main concern is to keep this all non-profit, and I would like to allow copying, because it makes collaborations with other sites easier. I chose "No Derivative Works" because I don't see the point of someone copying everything and then adding stuff to it elsewhere - although I don't know how likely that scenario is. What do you all think? Should the derivative works be allowed?
--[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 02:34, 19 February 2008 (EET)
:I'm really starting to think we should allow derivative works since I've already agreed to let the Rivages Maudits people use our material (and we can use theirs) so it would be kind of pointless to keep making exceptions to the rule, right? If noone disagrees or has any comments, I'm going to alter the license next time I upgrade the script. -- [[User:Mervi|Mervi]] 16:09, 13 March 2008 (EET)
* I've started to look into licensing for images, more on this later. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 13:11, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

* I've crated the first bunch of [[:Category:File licensing templates|file licensing templates]] - some of the wording still needs a bit of work but I was staring at the coding for so long I need a little break from that. :D These were basically designed to fit the files we already have, which are mostly cover images. Once I've gone through all the files applying them (I've got 600+ out of ~1000 left atm) and figured what needs to be added/changed, I'll also look into ones that could be applied to fan art (currently the only one for that is "grant permission for this wiki specifically" but ideally I'd like to add all the CC licenses at least). --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 10:39, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

* I also started adding categories for files. Some of them (images of character x, art by y) could actually be useful in the future, mostly it's just categorising the mass into smaller chunks - it might make it easier to find a certain file though, especially since some of the old file names are just random numbers and the descriptions are half empty so the Search function might struggle to find them. I'm keeping the resulting categories "red" on purpose until the work is done because I'm still deciding what the category tree will look like. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 10:39, 18 March 2017 (UTC)
:: I've still got about 180 files to go, but the categories started to make sense so.... [[:Category:Images]] is the top level category under which goes everything else. --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 15:22, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

* I've been copying cover art from the massive galleries to individual title pages. They're more handy there, and editing the gallery pages has started to be quite cumbersome even after splitting it into three. This has worked okay so far (I've mostly been working on ML titles where there are fewer editions and translations) but I think with RotE stories I might have to start individual gallery pages for each book and link them back to the articles. I'd ask for everyone's thoughts but it seems to be pretty empty here at the moment...? --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 16:24, 5 July 2014 (EEST)
==References==

==Templates==

==Licensing==

==References==

==Templates==

I'd ask for everyone's thoughts but it seems to be pretty empty here at the moment...? --[[User:Mervi|Mervi]] ([[User talk:Mervi|talk]]) 16:24, 5 July 2014 (EEST)
:I was thinking of doing this, too, although I was going to concentrate more on their physical appearence. Would you mind terribly if I put up a basic template for the Elderlings? that way we have something to work with, at least, even if it gets edited beyond recognition. I imagion it's going to be one of the hardest articles to write. Silly Elderlings, being all elusive and things. [[User:Voici|Voici]] 00:15, 21 April 2006 (EEST)
==References==

==Templates==

==Licensing==

'''Thymara''' is the human/[[Elderling]] keeper of the [[dragon]] [[Sintara]], initially known as Skymaw amongst the [[Keeper|keepers]].

== Dragon Keeper ==

Thymara, born with claws and deemed unfit to live by [[Rain Wilds]] standards, is saved by her father, despite her mother's disapproval of his act. Their only child to survive, she is raised as a hunter and gatherer in the canopy of the Rain Wild forest. She is resourceful and works well with her father, and her father's helper [[Tats]].

She witnesses the dragons emerging from their cocoons at [[Cassarick]] and can understand them immediately. She is full of sympathy for their malformations but admires them all the same.

When she is offered a position as a dragon keeper, she persuades her father that the experience will be good for her; as someone so deeply changed by the Rain Wilds, she will not be allowed to marry, and she perceives this opportunity will allow her to have a life of her own.

When she joins the keepers, she first believes they are all friends and she has found a place she can call her own. As the story progresses she learns that the web of relationships is more complex and difficult.

Her close friends are [[Tats]], [[Sylve]] and [[Rapskal]]. These three take on the task of caring for the [[Relpda|two]] [[Spit|dragons]] who are left without keepers, in addition to caring for their own.

Thymara has a tense opposition with [[Greft]]. She at first perceives him as self-serving, which is borne out when Greft claims he killed an elk that she had hunted herself. She is further uncomfortable with Greft's desire to pair off the keepers and is insulted by his suggestions that she should choose a mate in order to keep the peace. Thymara prefers to make such decisions for herself. She similarly rejects Greft's posturing as leader of the keepers.

Unique among the keepers, Thymara has a rather tumultuous relationship with her dragon, with them both professing dislike of each other at numerous time. She eventually forms a tenuous friendship with [[Alise Kincarron]], who seems to have an easier time responding to the dragon's glamour. Thymara feels uneasy about the dragon's charm, and knowing it for a glamour reacts by walling off her emotions and simply caring for her in a practical way.

When the blue dragon she selects to keep will not reveal her name, Thymara names her "Skymaw" after a beautiful but deadly Rain Wild flower. Later, [[Mercor]] reveals her name is [[Sintara]], much to the blue dragon's ire.

== Dragon Haven ==

Eventually, after treating her dragon by removing a [[Rasp snake]] from Sintara's body, she is splattered with dragon blood and ingests some of it, causing her scaling to accelerate and increasing the connection strength to Sintara.

Due to their irregular relationship, neither is truly aware of this, and the changes to a large degree proceed without conscious direction. Eventually [[Mercor]] forces [[Sintara]] to take charge of the changes. When Sintara covertly inspects Thymara, she notes the unusual type of changes the young woman is going through, but does not see fit to inform her of them.

During the time after this, Sintara makes sure Thymara learns a lot about dragon wings, especially about how they function.

Thymara forms a relationship of sorts with her childhood friend [[Tats]] in [[Dragon Haven]], but she remains wary of sleeping with him, in case she becomes pregnant. She keeps their physical contact limited. Tats accuses her of teasing him, and she reacts with hurt and affront, and reminds him that pregnancy is immediately dangerous to her in a way that he cannot experience.

She also has a charged friendship with [[Rapskal]], although the tenor of their interactions is different. Tats is a childhood friend and confidant, and Rapskal is a happy-go-lucky but subtly intelligent companion who lightens her mood. Further complicating her friendships with the two young men is an air of competition between Rapskal and Tats for her physical attentions.

== City of Dragons ==

At Kelsingra, Thymara discovers some of the city's secrets, and willingly shares what she finds with the other keepers.
