'''The Small One''' was the second [[Windsingers' Quartet|Ki and Vandien]] story to be published. Chronologically it takes place between the novels [[Limbreth Gate, the|The Limbreth Gate]] and [[Luck of the Wheels]].

Its first, and thus So far it has onlyever been published once, publication was in magazine [[Fantastic Stories]] Vol.27, #11 in 1980.
