The more recent Satrap Esclepius had a great passion for the religion of the [[White Prophet]]s, and collected rare manuscripts and books of [[White]] prophesies. He often meditated on randomly selected passages from the books after asking a question to [[Sa]] - an activity which had become quite fashionable amongst the nobility of Jamaillia, until condemned by the priests of Sa as a gateway to idolatry.
As implied in a [[Fool's Fate]] epigraph (Ch. 21 , In the Realm of the Pale Woman), Satrap Esclepius aided a 'young boy of strangely pale mien' in his quest to travel to the [[Six Duchies]]. The Satrap granted this boy, believed to be [[Beloved]] , free passage on one of the [[Chalced]]-bound slave ships.
