'''New Traders''' are merchants and nobles from [[Jamaillia]] who were given land grants by the [[Satrap]] [[Cosgo]]. These grants run directly counter to the original [[Bingtown Charter]], so the New Traders bribed and bought their land in illegal means. They mostly brought mistresses and workers, not their families, so they are seen as an unwelcome and illegal invasion by some [[Old Trader|Old Traders]]. Some However, some of the other Old Traders are more welcoming, trying to grow their influence with the Satrap and Jamaillia. Their influx into [[Bingtown]] changes the city's political and economic climate drastically. They introduce the normalization of slavery and undercut all of the goods in the city.
The New Traders are shown to be a grasping and greedy group of people who are constantly trying to either purchase more land, buy information on how to trade with the [[Rain Wild Traders]], or even purchase a [[liveship]]. [[Davad Restart]], an [[Old Trader]], acts as a go-between for interested parties in the [[Paragon]], the [[Ludluck]] family's derelict liveship. One of the New Traders interested in Paragon is named [[Mingsley]].
