At the begining of the world when men were at sea and women on land the men only ever cursed by [[El]]s name. [[Eda]] was the soft and weak land goddess so [[El]] cursed those that asked for his blessing. Soon there was not but on man left who remembered and cursed by [[El]], but he was an old and weak man so [[El]] did not bother with him. One day the man got caught out at sea in a storm and called to [[El]] for mercy, this angered [[El]]. The man later landed in the [[Six Duchies]], but everywhere he went bad things happened. Now in puppet shows he is the symbol the puppeteers use to show when something bad is about to happen. [[Chade Fallstar]] uses his looks to raise superstitions in people when he believes it necesary for [[Fitz]] or the throne.
