User talk:Farseer
The oldest? How do you know? bwahahahaha *mysterious wink*
Is this how I am supposed to reply (just by using the edit function), or can't you see this? Will investigate further :) !
I can see this but I didn't receive an email alert about it. I went to 'Recent edits' and found you'd edited this page so I came to have a look (because I am a stickybeak). Also if you click the button above (when editing) that says 'your signature with timestamp' it adds your name like so --Nuytsia 11:20, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
How to use talk pages
I hope this helps: every page has a "talk" page that can be used to discuss changes to the article before making them or suggesting ideas for improving the article etc. The talk page for user page (=the page with your user name) can be used to leave notes for that particular user. When someone leaves a comment on an article's talk page, it is wisest to reply on that same page so that everyone can follow the conversation easily. But if you want to reply to a comment on your OWN talk page (=this page, the talk page attached to your username) you can reply either here or on the the talk page of the user that left the comment. Just remember to sign your comments so we know who wrote what! It can also be helpful to indent the text like this (let's pretend my comment ends here, so I sign it) --Mervi 13:23, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
- this would be another user's comment to the text above, and signed by them as well
- now someone else wants to comment too
- and maybe I reply to the thread again - you do this by using a colon ( : ) before the line you want to indent (that is, your reply to the previous comment). Next commenter then uses two colons, and the next three etc. Just check out the code for this page by clicking "edit" and you see how I did it! :) Oh, and one more thing - you should be able to edit your preferences ("my preferences" on the left) to receive an email when someone edits your talk page, or you can add any page to your "watch list" which makes it easier to notice when changes are made to them. --Mervi 13:23, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
