Although the descriptions of their physical traits are never consistant, it is hinted at that the they are long-limbed and often have scaley growths. The [[Ambassador]] mentioned in ''The Golden Fool'' is most likely an Elderling (or, at least of Elderling ancestry), thus can be considered vaguely humanoid in appearance, and looks almost how a dragon might look if it were human.

It has been speculated by [[The Fool]] that Elderling's Elderlings were men and women who were priveledged privileged enough for dragons to allow them to spent most of their lives near them, so much so that . This resulted in the two species became integratedto a degree. One Eldering they had extended lifespans, causing but with much reduced fertility, meaning that children that were not born often, but when they were, they were much treasured.  The dragons opinions on their young that showed human characteristics similar integration was not not so positive, outcasting such offspringwith human characteristics - probably to become [[Others]].
