* A British English hardcover edition was published by Voyager 4th of July 2005 with the ISBN 0007196121. The covers were illustrated by [[John Howe]].
* An American English hardcover edition was published 6th of September 2005 with the ISBN 0060757620.
* A British English paperback edition was published by Voyager in 3rd of July 2006 with ISBN 0007196148. The cover is a slightly altered version of the original UK covers by John Howe.* An American English paperback edition is scheduled for for was published in 29th of August or 1st of September 1st 2006 (which is also the US release date for [[Forest Mage]] with the ISBN 0060758287 and a new cover art.

* A Dutch translation ''Overgangsritueel (De Boeken van de Zoon van de Krijger, Eerste Boek)'' was published by Uitgeverij Luitingh –Sijthoff B. V., Amsterdam in 2005, ISBN 9024553687 (hardcover). John Howe's cover art was flipped so that the sword is in the back cover and the forest image in the front.
* A French translation ''La déchirure'' is planned to be released in October 26th 2006. As with many of Hobb's French translation, the original is split to several volumes, this being the first part of ''Shaman's Crossing''.
