Flying to [[Bingtown]], she encounters [Chalced|Chalcedean]] ships attacking. They shoot arrows at her and she destroys a few ships. Tintaglia is distracted by Selden Vestrit's singing and lands near some survivors of Bingtown. Despite Reyn not wanting to ally with her, she makes a deal with the survivors of Bingtown. The deal was for the humans to dredge the Rain Wild River to help the serpents swim upriver and protect the cocoons before they hatch. In return, she would protect the harbor and the river mouth and free [[Kendry]] and other [[Liveships]] potentially captured by the Chalcedeans.
Reyn, after learning that Malta is still alive, makes a separate deal with Tintaglia. He will dedicate his life to searching for other surviving cocoons in [[Elderling]] cities if Tintaglia will help save Malta. They fly off together and eventually reach Malta where Tintaglia meets up with the remainder of [[Sea serpentsserpent|Sea serpentserpents]].
The Sea serpents needed help being guided and in swimming into the [[Serpent River]]. They need to form cocoons from the special sand that is only found in certain places along the river, mixing it with their own and a dragon's secretions. Tintaglia then protected them on her own as there was no other dragons to help her.
