She Who Remembers

She Who Remembers was a green-gold female sea serpent kept as a prisoner in the Others Island. Because of her imprisonment from her youth, she is deformed and 'crippled', in her words. She wasn't fed a proper diet, so her color is more yellow-green when she is freed. The Others refer to her as their "Oracle."

Importance

She Who Remembers might be the last of her kind. Her role is usually shared among a few serpents, but she houses all of the memories of their race for the serpents to take with them when they cocoon. Since she has been imprisoned, and because of the cataclysm shifting geography, the current serpents are not able to remember everything they need to. Her memories, her toxins and mucus, are the last hope for the dragon race.

Fate

Wintrow Vestrit frees her, though his body is ravaged by her toxins, when Kennit takes him to learn his fate from the Others. Freed by Wintrow and connected through their touching of each other, she saves the rowboat that Kennit, Etta, and Wintrow are in. She pushes it to Vivacia, who is touched by her toxins and therefore her memories.

She Who Remembers decides to follow in the wake of Vivacia for a time, on the way to do her duty and share the memories of all dragon kind with her kin.

She dies while attempting to follow the Rain Wild River up to the cocooning grounds.
