Bolt, dragon

Bolt was the name of the dragon that would have come out of the wizardwood log out of which the Vivacia was built.

Bolt was awakened when Wintrow Vestrit almost died from his wounds suffered during the rescue of She Who Remembers on Others Island. She forces Wintrow back to his body and forces him to tell Vivacia what liveships truly are. The knowledge that liveships are just dead dragon cocoons makes Vivacia want to end her half life, and Bolt takes advantage of the emotional distress to push her awareness down. She takes control of the ship, making a deal with Kennit.

Kennit promises to do anything for her if she will speak with the serpents and direct them however he chooses to use them. Bolt makes him promise to guide the serpents up the Rain Wild River so they can become dragons.


Not to be confused with the soldier called Bolt.
